“Necessity is the mother of invention”- might sound cliché but couldn’t find any apt reference describing the shocking revelation of carcass meat supply scandal. Bengal has seen famine in between 1769 - 1773 (1176-1180 in Bengali Calendar), but even then when almost one third of Bengals population got starved to death and people literally became omnivorous, couldn’t consume carcass meat. That was pre-independence era and we are talking of 70 years post independence when Bengal proclaims its growth in every facet. Had this scandal not revealed, we would have been in complete dark about this heinous nexus operating well over a decade and spread even across the border of the state. I still cannot comprehend that what degree of unscrupulousness give birth to people who can even contemplate of doing what they have done.
