Carcass Industry

“Necessity is the mother of invention”- might sound cliché but couldn’t find any apt reference describing the shocking revelation of carcass meat supply scandal. Bengal has seen famine in between 1769 - 1773 (1176-1180 in Bengali Calendar), but even then when almost one third of Bengals population got starved to death and people literally became omnivorous, couldn’t consume carcass meat. That was pre-independence era and we are talking of 70 years post independence when Bengal proclaims its growth in every facet. Had this scandal not revealed, we would have been in complete dark about this heinous nexus operating well over a decade and spread even across the border of the state. I still cannot comprehend that what degree of unscrupulousness give birth to people who can even contemplate of doing what they have done.

On the other hand, it is hard to believe that without the active help and support from the politicians and administration this nexus was operative for so many years. Though a very few such connections has got surfaced up but there are reason to believe that those are just the tip of the iceberg.  As usual, the game of passing the buck to opposite political parties has started.

On a lighter note, one spare for thought is that the number of reported cases of toxicity after eating carcass meat is significantly less in number considering the time span of the episode. Does it mean that the people of Bengal mutated themselves to such degree that they remain unaffected?

Last but not least, we never knew that in a civilized society carcass meat for human consumption can form an industry. Bengal has once again proved they can inject innovative idea which will redefine the terminology of industry.

Who says that there is dearth of industry in Bengal and young guns does not have any future here?  Please think again.

Mithun Chakraborty – Bengal’s one & only universal DADA (Big Brother)

When the announcement for Shri Mithun Chakraborty’s news of being nominated for Dadasaheb  Phalke Award for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema made public, being a Bengali and an ardent fan of the legendary actor, my first reaction was that no one could have been a better flag bearer as a human being to bring back golden days of Bengali Cinema. As announced by I&B Broadcasting Ministry of India on 30 th September 2024, the award was scheduled to be presented on 70 th National Film Awards Ceremony on 8 th October 2024. In middle and lower middle class Bengali community, the word ‘DADA’ , means big brother is uttered with great respect. Mithunda is a person, who earned this respect across the strata of the society and age barrier by his sheer integrity, hard work and humbleness. Today, Mithunda, is not only a film actor, anchor etc, but we look upto him as a brand for every facet of life beyond barrier of merely film acting only. Already, he has earned his respect pan ...

India And Her Malicious Neighbours

Pakistan, as always, from its formative days has only had one point agenda, and that is to keep trying to disturb and disrupt our motherland. Despite being slapped time and again in their every malicious intention, they seem to be adamant that they will stop at nothing. All kind of atrocious activities, deception, deceit, falsehood, human right violation, patronising terrorist activity and eventually shameless denial of all proven offences seems to be in their social DNA. Day after day, they digging deep hole for their own country by trying to disturb our countries inner peace. Yet they do not have will to learn from history.   ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’ will be written in the history of mankind with a warning that there is no respite for the perpetrators involved in conspiracy against our motherland. Son & daughters of our soil will avenge them for sure. We have always believed and practised assimilation over destruction as our country’s strength. Unfortunately, Pakistan, ...

CAA-The Black Spot

Hit by protest against implementation of Citizens Amendment Bill (Citizens Amendment Act, now), West Bengal is writhing. Daily life has become immobile and the role of states’ administrative machineries has become questionable. Be it Rail & Road blockade, brainless destruction of public property or setting fire to trains & busses,    all sorts of vandalism are being showcased in different pockets of the state in the name of protest and instead of taking stern actions against those, state administration watching over as mere spectators is bound to raise eyebrows. If you interpret, after reading up to this point that I’m advocating in favour of this Act and thus voicing against protesters, it will be half truth. Problem with public pandemonium is that very easily sentiments take over from logic. Unfortunately, political intolerance in our country, across all party lines has become such that criticism is interpreted as opposition. CAA itself is deplorable since it direct...
