Politically Apolitical

Politically apolitical!

I’m sure that most individuals will ridicule the term if not downright reject the same. Why we always shy away from accepting bare facts and try to cover it up with pseudo satisfaction as if it was never present? Why we always like to keep truth behind our back and run for illusive objects?

I have never been an advocator against positive thinking instead always try to look at the sunny side of things. Having said that, putting your hands into fire and expecting it will not burn, if that is what is meant by positive thinking then please excuse me! According to me that is non-practical. Either you have put out the fire or refrain yourself from putting your hand into it.

As a responsible citizen, it is very appalling to fathom out what is happening in our society and thereby my inner feeling tries to voice out through my writings. In one of my earlier blog also I’ve expressed my distress on how Bengal’s politics is getting increasingly polluted with communalism. Menacing effect of the same is evident by way of mutual disrespect filled up with suspicion amongst two major communities.  Both the ruling and opposition are responsible for playing the cards as per their political game plan.  Another aspect of Bengal’s politics, long looked upon by masses as innocuous with respect to communalism and therefore fostered by earlier rulers and thereafter successfully and more blatantly carried forward by present ruling party is politicisation of everything under the sky.  Interference of politics in every minuscule incident, even in the matters of administration makes things worse.  So much so, that common people of our state probably started to believe that involving politics is omnipotent and they have right to do so, as precedence and everyday occurrence corroborates their belief.  It has been successfully inculcated by ruling political parties over period of time that anything and everything in our daily life is about politics and politics only (especially of the ruling party) can be our saviour.

We have dumbly watched how administration, judiciary become almost non-existent over a period of time.  Hooligans and anarchist, by virtue of being under the shade of ruling party has taken over.  Colour of the Ruler changed; these peoples changed boat and kept proximity to the power epicentre and ruled the roost.  Administration has become lame and can’t steadfast without nod from ruling party’s Supremo.

I’ve used the word ‘probably’ quite judiciously; as I would love to believe that still there is large number of my fellow citizens who are inclined to keep administration independent and moreover,  apolitical strata in them, who unwillingly has to become ‘political’ for a ‘cause’ is looking for a leeway to breathe free.

Piyali Island – Your Weekend Jaunt

More often than not, whenever we contemplate about taking a break from routine city life, our mind starts wandering about destinations pretty common to all of us.   While discussing a jaunt on a fall winter weekend amongst friends, the onus was upon me to find out a place which is close by, beautiful yet not very commonly known to masses. Instantly, the name of Piyali Island popped up in my mind.   Earlier, somewhere I’ve heard of the place but never happened to be there.   However, I’ve started scouring in the internet as well as amongst people who might be aware about it. From the internet, I got desired information to be able to put up to my association. Most of the people I asked though told me about the picnic spot Piyali which is en route to Canning, 24 Parganas (S). But, since I knew that what I was looking for I didn’t pay any heed to it.   Four of friends, including me decided to take up the excursion on Sunday, 21 st January 2018 by local t...

A Memoir of Murshidabad –Bengal’s Bygone Historical Epoch

While planning for our Puja vacation, our mind started wandering. It was primarily because we have not made any significant peregrination for long enough and also because of the fact that deliberating on a tour itself always is an energizer for a thirsty soul willing to run away from the hustle and bustle of city dwelling. Time space was not enough for a long trip yet not very short one also.  We had got 5 days for our tour. After a lot of argumentation and deliberation between two of us, brothers, as to where to head for, we have decided to visit Murshidabad. The reason propelling our decision apart from its being a historical city, which we were contemplating to visit, we have had a nostalgic connection to this place. Our father spent his childhood days in Murshidabad. He used to narrate stories of the place and those narratives left some delightful impression of Murshidabad in our childhood days which we wanted to relieve. We boarded Bhagirathi Express from Sealdah on ...
