ANOTHER REPUBLIC DAY

I was contemplating a ‘Republic Day’ write-up and when started scribbling, while some facts gave me immense delight, some left me with dread dreams.

We have celebrated our 65th  Republic Day this 26th January, but as a commoner, while I feel proud of our country being deliberated as one of the super power in scientific brilliance, shown great augury in terms of economic reforms or achieving commendable improvement in plantation and farming, but my heart got infused with dismay, when I think, we have witnessed the assassination of people like ‘Mr. Davolkar’, who fought the war against superstition and black magic. Our head droops with shame when we see incidents like ‘Labhpur’, when we see killing of female feticide in this 21st century.

Distinctly, our country has been literally dichotomously divided and these two parts have become apparently inextricable.

As far as ‘celebrating’ Republic Day is concerned, I think it has become a festival or ‘another holiday’ for those who can celebrate it. For glitterati of media and entertainment world it’s a ‘trend’ now. But for destitute people, its like any other day, where there is no empathy, they have to fight and fight hard to earn their livelihood.

Unfortunately, for our country, ‘celebrating’ its 65th Republic Day, the last category is behemoth. But our system, politicians earning their bred over their mandate, takes no heed of their bawl.

When these people can ‘celebrate’ 26th January, that will be our true ‘Republic Day.

Mithun Chakraborty – Bengal’s one & only universal DADA (Big Brother)

When the announcement for Shri Mithun Chakraborty’s news of being nominated for Dadasaheb  Phalke Award for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema made public, being a Bengali and an ardent fan of the legendary actor, my first reaction was that no one could have been a better flag bearer as a human being to bring back golden days of Bengali Cinema. As announced by I&B Broadcasting Ministry of India on 30 th September 2024, the award was scheduled to be presented on 70 th National Film Awards Ceremony on 8 th October 2024. In middle and lower middle class Bengali community, the word ‘DADA’ , means big brother is uttered with great respect. Mithunda is a person, who earned this respect across the strata of the society and age barrier by his sheer integrity, hard work and humbleness. Today, Mithunda, is not only a film actor, anchor etc, but we look upto him as a brand for every facet of life beyond barrier of merely film acting only. Already, he has earned his respect pan ...

India And Her Malicious Neighbours

Pakistan, as always, from its formative days has only had one point agenda, and that is to keep trying to disturb and disrupt our motherland. Despite being slapped time and again in their every malicious intention, they seem to be adamant that they will stop at nothing. All kind of atrocious activities, deception, deceit, falsehood, human right violation, patronising terrorist activity and eventually shameless denial of all proven offences seems to be in their social DNA. Day after day, they digging deep hole for their own country by trying to disturb our countries inner peace. Yet they do not have will to learn from history.   ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’ will be written in the history of mankind with a warning that there is no respite for the perpetrators involved in conspiracy against our motherland. Son & daughters of our soil will avenge them for sure. We have always believed and practised assimilation over destruction as our country’s strength. Unfortunately, Pakistan, ...

CAA-The Black Spot

Hit by protest against implementation of Citizens Amendment Bill (Citizens Amendment Act, now), West Bengal is writhing. Daily life has become immobile and the role of states’ administrative machineries has become questionable. Be it Rail & Road blockade, brainless destruction of public property or setting fire to trains & busses,    all sorts of vandalism are being showcased in different pockets of the state in the name of protest and instead of taking stern actions against those, state administration watching over as mere spectators is bound to raise eyebrows. If you interpret, after reading up to this point that I’m advocating in favour of this Act and thus voicing against protesters, it will be half truth. Problem with public pandemonium is that very easily sentiments take over from logic. Unfortunately, political intolerance in our country, across all party lines has become such that criticism is interpreted as opposition. CAA itself is deplorable since it direct...
