Resurrection of love in Labhpur

Barbaric !! Savage!! Shameful......I don't have any more words in my vocabulary, or even if I have, cannot retrieve right now, since my inner self is overflowing with a feel of anguish.

Where are we living? Is it the country we feel proud of? Our culture, our humanity, all we claim of are  being severely challenged by some obnoxious & filthy creatures.

Yes, you rightly read, they are neither humans nor animals, coz even animals will scoff at humans, if they can, if we categorize them being humans.

However, My urge to the upholders of law and judiciary will be to please make these heinous creatures punish to the highest possible level within the human society!!!

Mithun Chakraborty – Bengal’s one & only universal DADA (Big Brother)

When the announcement for Shri Mithun Chakraborty’s news of being nominated for Dadasaheb  Phalke Award for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema made public, being a Bengali and an ardent fan of the legendary actor, my first reaction was that no one could have been a better flag bearer as a human being to bring back golden days of Bengali Cinema. As announced by I&B Broadcasting Ministry of India on 30 th September 2024, the award was scheduled to be presented on 70 th National Film Awards Ceremony on 8 th October 2024. In middle and lower middle class Bengali community, the word ‘DADA’ , means big brother is uttered with great respect. Mithunda is a person, who earned this respect across the strata of the society and age barrier by his sheer integrity, hard work and humbleness. Today, Mithunda, is not only a film actor, anchor etc, but we look upto him as a brand for every facet of life beyond barrier of merely film acting only. Already, he has earned his respect pan ...

Piyali Island – Your Weekend Jaunt

More often than not, whenever we contemplate about taking a break from routine city life, our mind starts wandering about destinations pretty common to all of us.   While discussing a jaunt on a fall winter weekend amongst friends, the onus was upon me to find out a place which is close by, beautiful yet not very commonly known to masses. Instantly, the name of Piyali Island popped up in my mind.   Earlier, somewhere I’ve heard of the place but never happened to be there.   However, I’ve started scouring in the internet as well as amongst people who might be aware about it. From the internet, I got desired information to be able to put up to my association. Most of the people I asked though told me about the picnic spot Piyali which is en route to Canning, 24 Parganas (S). But, since I knew that what I was looking for I didn’t pay any heed to it.   Four of friends, including me decided to take up the excursion on Sunday, 21 st January 2018 by local t...

Carcass Industry

“Necessity is the mother of invention”- might sound cliché but couldn’t find any apt reference describing the shocking revelation of carcass meat supply scandal. Bengal has seen famine in between 1769 - 1773 (1176-1180 in Bengali Calendar), but even then when almost one third of Bengals population got starved to death and people literally became omnivorous, couldn’t consume carcass meat. That was pre-independence era and we are talking of 70 years post independence when Bengal proclaims its growth in every facet. Had this scandal not revealed, we would have been in complete dark about this heinous nexus operating well over a decade and spread even across the border of the state. I still cannot comprehend that what degree of unscrupulousness give birth to people who can even contemplate of doing what they have done.   On the other hand, it is hard to believe that without the active help and support from the politicians and administration this nexus was operative for so many...
